Challenge:
Kim Koehler of Element One Photography was attempting to generate new business through search engine optimization and online social media marketing. Current website elementonestudio.com is flash based and invisible to search engines. Profitable Myspace profile already in place as a marketing tool for high school senior pictures. Kim simply needed more visibility online, and needed to leverage the search engines to gain more traffic and customers.
Kim’s work is breathtaking, and lends itself well to social photo sharing websites, and spans many different subject matters giving her a broad demographic to market to.
Bottom Line: Element One Photography, like many local small businesses has great potential to build new business through an internet marketing campaign.
Solution:
Grow Kim’s internet presence through search engine optimization. Cost was an immediate issue, and unfortunately, we were unable to use the current website because of hosting issues. Searching Solutions implemented a basic Wordpress hosted blog as a workaround to show off Kim’s photography, with the future hope that a full domain name would be used.
Searching Solutions created multiple blog posts to launch the blog site, and syndicated them in many directions in order to build up a basic link profile. We also submitted Element One to all of the appropriate local business directories and national photography directories as it was unlisted in most of the important directories. Local profile management turned out to be a huge help to Kim’s ranking and traffic.
Because of the nature of competition for many of Kim’s top keywords, in some cases extra effort was necessary to help brand and dominate certain search phrases Kim wanted traffic from. This included creating special hub page content on different social media sites and optimizing them for the search engines. This effectively gave Kim multiple results on many search terms lending to the strength of the Element One brand as well building loyal customers and traffic.
After the first 3 months, we gave Kim the keys to the blog. After a training session with us, she redesigned it, and began blogging on her own, and has turned into self-motivated publisher.
